The route
The A43 to Chambéry, then the A41 north via Aix-les-Bains to Annecy. Allow 1 h 40 from Lyon to the town centre when the road is clear.

On weekdays, leaving Lyon on the A43 is slow until around 9 am, and the way back gets busy from 5 pm. On Friday evenings and winter Saturdays, the A43 also carries departures for the Alps as far as Chambéry. In summer, it is the approach to the lake that slows down, especially at weekends.
