Private driver Lyon → La Plagne
Plagne Centre, Belle Plagne, Montchavin-Les Coches or Champagny: each village has its own road, and Yanis takes the one that leads to your door.
The route
Via Albertville and Moûtiers, the N90 reaches Aime. The D221 then climbs from Aime, in numbered hairpins, to Plagne Centre at around 1,970 m. It is the road to most of the high-altitude villages.
Depending on departure time
On Saturdays it is best to be past Moûtiers before 9 am: after that, traffic builds until the evening. Leaving Lyon around 6 am lets you climb the hairpins before the crowds. On weekdays the ride takes about 2 h 40.
In winter
The D221 is one bend after another and gets snowy on snowfall days. The car has winter tyres, compulsory in the mountains from 1 November to 31 March; when snow is forecast, Yanis leaves earlier to keep the same arrival time.
Skis and luggage
For a week in La Plagne, list suitcases, bags and pairs of skis or snowboards. If you need a stop on the way, for instance to collect the keys from the agency, note it too: Yanis builds it into the timing.
Drop-off
Plagne Centre, Plagne 1800, Aime 2000, Plagne Villages, Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne and Plagne Bellecôte are all reached by the Aime road. Montchavin-Les Coches is reached from the N90 at Bellentre, and Champagny-en-Vanoise via Bozel: give the exact address, the route depends on it.
Questions
Which village should I enter in the request?
The one where you are staying, with the exact address. Champagny and Montchavin-Les Coches are not reached by the same road as Plagne Centre.
Can you pick me up at Aime-La Plagne station?
Yes, as pick-up or drop-off. With the train number, Yanis tracks its actual arrival time.
Can we stop for groceries before the climb?
Yes, mention it in the request and the stop is included in the quote.
How long is the quote valid?
48 h. Once accepted, the price no longer changes, even if the road is busy on the day.
