Private driver Lyon → Les 2 Alpes
Via Grenoble and the Romanche valley, up to the resort or down to Vénosc village. Allow 2 h 30 from Lyon on a clear day.
The route
The A43 then the A48 to Grenoble, and off at Vizille. The D1091 follows the Romanche up to Bourg-d'Oisans and carries on towards Briançon. At the Chambon dam, the D213 leaves the valley and climbs in hairpins to Les 2 Alpes at 1,650 m.
Depending on departure time
As far as Bourg-d'Oisans the road is shared with Alpe d'Huez: on Saturdays the Grenoble ring road and the valley fill up during the morning. Leave Lyon before 7 am and you climb before most of the arrivals. For the return, the departure time is set around handing back the keys.
In winter
In Isère, winter equipment is compulsory in the mountains from 1 November to 31 March, and the car runs on winter tyres. The valley stays low as far as Le Chambon; it is the D213, above the lake, that needs the most care on snowy days.
Skis and luggage
For a family, count skis or snowboards, boot bags and suitcases: list each item in the request. If it will not all fit in the Kia Sportage boot, Yanis tells you before confirming.
Drop-off
The resort stretches for two kilometres along the Avenue de la Muzelle, with the 1650 area and the more wooded 1800 area at the top. Vénosc, below in the Vénéon valley, is linked to the resort by gondola: Yanis drops you there if that is where you are staying.
Questions
Can you drop me in Vénosc rather than in the resort?
Yes, give the address in Vénosc. The gondola then links the village to the ski area.
From Saint-Exupéry, do we go through Lyon?
No, the route runs from the airport towards Grenoble without crossing Lyon. Give your flight number and Yanis meets you at arrivals.
How do I pay for the ride?
On board, by card or cash, at the price set in the quote.
Can we stop for groceries in Bourg-d'Oisans?
Yes, mention it in the request and the stop is included in the quote.
