Private driver Lyon → Méribel
From Lyon to Méribel Centre, Mottaret or Méribel-Village, with suitcases and skis in the same boot. Yanis drops you outside your chalet.
The route
The motorway runs past Chambéry to Albertville, then the N90 leads to Moûtiers. From there the D90 climbs 18 km up the Les Allues valley, through the village of Les Allues, to Méribel.
Depending on departure time
Moûtiers is the gateway to the Three Valleys: on Saturdays, holidaymakers bound for Courchevel, Méribel and Val Thorens all go through it. Leave Lyon around 6 am and you are past Moûtiers before the bulk of the traffic. On a weekday the ride stays close to 2 h 25.
In winter
Winter tyres or chains are required in the mountains from 1 November to 31 March; the Kia Sportage runs on winter tyres all season. The D90 climbs from under 500 m at Moûtiers to 1,450 m at Méribel Centre: in falling snow, the climb is slower.
Skis and luggage
In the request, give the number of suitcases, boot bags and pairs of skis or snowboards. If you are renting gear in Méribel, the boot is kept for the suitcases; if not, Yanis tells you what fits before confirming.
Drop-off
Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret further up the valley, Méribel-Village, Le Raffort or Les Allues: give the village and the address of your accommodation, and you are dropped at the door.
Questions
What time should I leave Lyon on a Saturday?
Around 6 am, to get past Moûtiers before the arrivals peak. Later in the morning, the ride can take a good deal longer.
Can I leave straight from Saint-Exupéry?
Yes, with your flight number Yanis tracks the landing and waits for you in the arrivals hall. The route joins the Chambéry motorway without going through Lyon.
I am staying in Brides-les-Bains, is that possible?
Yes, Brides-les-Bains is a few kilometres from Moûtiers, on the Bozel road. The Olympe gondola then links it to Méribel.
Can we stop for groceries on the way?
Yes, mention it in the request and the stop is included in the quote.
