At the end of the D902, where the road stops in winter. Yanis drives you from Lyon to La Daille, the centre or Le Fornet, in one car.
The route
Motorway to Albertville, the N90 to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then the D902 through Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise and Les Brévières. At the Chevril dam the road passes the turn-off for Tignes and follows the lake through a series of tunnels to La Daille, at the entrance to Val d'Isère.
Depending on departure time
On Saturdays, Val d'Isère shares the valley with Les Arcs and Tignes as far as Bourg-Saint-Maurice, then with Tignes up to the dam. Leaving Lyon around 5.30 am gets you through Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice before the queues. On another day, allow about 3 h 15.
In winter
The Col de l'Iseran is closed in winter: Val d'Isère is then at the end of the road, and the D902 is the only way in. It is sometimes closed for a few hours between Les Brévières and Val d'Isère for controlled avalanche release. From 1 November to 31 March winter equipment is compulsory: the car is on winter tyres, and Yanis checks the road before setting off.
Gear and luggage
Suitcases, boot bags, skis and snowboards all go in the request. For a child seat or a pet, tick the matching box: Yanis gets the car ready for it.
Drop-off
La Daille at the entrance, the centre and its hotels, then Le Laisinant and Le Fornet at the head of the valley. After heavy snowfall the Le Fornet road can be closed for a while; Yanis then drops you as close as possible, depending on what is open.
Questions
Can the road be closed on my arrival day?
It happens, for a few hours, during controlled avalanche release between Les Brévières and Val d'Isère. Yanis follows the announced closures and reworks the timing with you.
Can you drive me to Geneva Airport after my stay?
Yes, a ride between a French resort and Geneva is allowed. Give your flight time and Yanis sets the departure with a margin.
Can the outbound and return be on different dates?
Yes, they are two rides, each on its own date and with its own price in the quote.
How far ahead should I book?
Book as soon as your dates are set, especially for a February Saturday. For an urgent request, call Yanis directly.
